Run Forrest Run!!!

So this Sunday October 2nd Morrisa and myself will be running in our first 5k.  We planned on really training hard and seeing how good we could get before this 5k.  Well things came up here and there and well before we knew it the weekend of the 5k has arrived.  We will still be running non the less, well we'll run and walk some probably but we will finish the 5k.  We've set a goal of 45 minutes and I think we can push through and do it.

The cause behind the race we are running in is something that is something we strongly back.  It is being held by the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation which is a nonprofit organization that serves the needs of families battling infertility.  Through education and outreach they support families struggling with infertility as well as educating outside communities about related issues.  They also provide financial assistance to families pursuing infertility treatment or domestic adoption through a grant they have established.  They have partnered with Shady Grove Fertility which is most near and dear to us because without them we wouldn't have our amazing little boy.
Here's the website http://raceforthefamily.net/

So be thinking of us come Sunday.  I know some of you may have funny images in your head of me running a 5k.  I may go dressed like Forrest when he ran across the country.  I assure you I will finish though.

Something aside from the whole running thing.  Our son Noah has started something new the other day.  He's now finishing off his sentences say "you think so Mama" or "you think so Dada".  It's too funny.  Must be something he's picking up from a kid at day care, but it's too funny.

Ravens vs. Jets (My take)

Here we go week 4 in the NFL!  The Ravens are taking on the Jets and both teams are 2-1.  The Jets however in my opinion should be 1-2 but won a game that the Cowboys blew as they were up 24-10 early in the fourth quarter.  The Ravens should be 3-0 and lost to a team they should have had no problem beating in the Tennessee Titans, but this is the NFL and you have to show up every week ready to play.  The Ravens didn't in week 2 and the Cowboys let their foot off the peddle so that's how we find ourselves both sitting at 2-1.

I'm liking the Ravens to take this game, and not just because I'm a homer and love the team.  Sanchez last week for the Jets threw a pick and was sacked 4 times, and even though our defensive back field is banged up.  I think we will be able to create enough pressure up front to help our our DB's.  I'm not afraid of the Jets running game at all this year, so we should be fine there.  I'm impressed with the way our offense has been performing with the exception of the Titans game.  Our "O" line is coming together and even our back-up's are stepping in and playing great, especially Gurode.  I don't expect Smith to have the type of game he had last week but by putting up the performance he did last week it forces the Jet's to account for him as a serious threat.

My call is Baltimore with the win 28-13 over the Jets

My closing O's thought's 2011

So I have to admit originally I was upset with the O's winning these last 2 weeks because I was looking at next year and wanted the best possible draft position we could get.  With that said I have to correct my rant against the O's days ago.  The past couple of series to close out the season were pretty fun, and to end it all the way we did last night knocking the Red Sox out of the playoffs put the icing on the cake.  I have another disclosure, I stopped watching last nights game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs knowing it was over.  I mean come on the highly acclaimed favorites since the season began to win it all with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth.  With so much on the line and the Rays playing in extra innings against the Yankees.  There was no way they were going to lose this game, and there was no way this Orioles team was going to score 2 runs with 2 outs and no one on base.  So it was my surprise when I awoke this morning and saw that the O's pulled it off.  This will tide us O's fans over until next season.
Now that this season is over let's start looking to next year.  MacPhail is more than likely packing it up and will no longer be our GM.  So who's going to fill that slot?  There's many rumors that Buck Showalter is the clear favorite for the position.  I'm teetering on wanting a younger more proven "GM" in that position.  I'm not saying Buck can't get the job done, but I would rather see him in the dugout and a true GM running the front office stuff.  I could be wrong, and Buck could do a great job.  Heck if he gets the job I HOPE he does a great job and turns this thing around.  I know it will never happen but Cashman's contract is up.  I'm just saying.
Once the GM situation is straightened out we REALLY need to look at our scouting and minor leagues.  I threw both scouting and minor league coaches together because one or both of these areas are failing.  How can NONE of our position players pan out over 10+ years?
Maybe I'm just rambling aimlessly, but then again these are just my crazy thoughts.

Old Blog

So I found my old blog and wanted to share that link with all of you. http://baltimoresportsrock.blogspot.com/  If you are interested in checking out our long fertility journey from the husbands side of things go and check it out.  You will also see a link to Mo's old blog on there as well.

I was really shocked that they were still around.

Back At It

Well here I go again.  It's been years since I have blogged.  I think my last blog was somewhere around 2 almost 3 years ago.  Back then I was blogging about our battle and struggles with infertility and all of the ups and downs that came with that journey.  Even though that chapter of our lives has been closed with the birth of our amazing son, who by the way is turning 3 in December.  Which is crazy to think how fast the time flew by.  Anyway I was saying even though that chapter in our lives has closed we still live with the emotions and all that come with our infertility journey.  I don't think that will ever change, it's just a part of us.
So what's new why am I blogging now? I don't know I was just drawn back to it. To serve as a place to put my thoughts, feelings, perspective.  A place where other's can get a glimpse of what's going on in this pretty ordinary sports loving family man's life.  So please come back sit a while and enjoy my story and feel free to comment and leave your own messages.
I have so much to say so let's go...
